Senator Larry Craig was arrested for suspicion of lewd conduct after he solicited an undercover officer for sexual activity in the men’s bathroom in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. During the incident interview with the police, Craig tried to proclaim that he merely had a wide stance and that he wasn't trying to solicit the gentleman in the next stall. Craig pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct misdemeanor and paid a fine. He later flip-flopped on whether he would resign from the Senate, which he did not ultimately do and also flip-flopped as to whether he should have pleaded guilty to the offense. The Judge ultimately rejected his motion to withdraw his guilty plea.
